An update of sorts :-)

Hey all! I know, I'm a horrible blogger. Can you believe that I once had a blog that I updated everyday!?!? Seriously, and I used to have a personal journal that I updated every day too!! Wow, my life must have been so much more interesting back then.....

Anyways, in life news, my fiance Shane was finally able to start his job today! Back story-- he received a full time job offer from the museum he had his internship at over the summer. He got the job in late September, and was supposed to start October 1. Weeeeell, he quit his job at school, packed up his stuff and moved his lil hinney up here. The day he went to work, they told him the company issued a hiring freeze and he wouldnt be able to start. Not only that, but they didnt know when he could start either!

Fast forward through a month of meetings and budget reviews and the whole shebang, and finally, FINALLY, the company calls and says he can start! Granted they called on a Friday, and told him to start on Monday, but he'll take it! So today, as the alarm went off at 6am and I mumbled and grumbled, my lovely dear fiance woke up and set off into the new world of full time work (while finishing graduate school at the same time!).

With this new job, it means that we will be able to start looking for a place to live sometime within the next few months! Thats so exciting :-) as we are itching to move out of here! The only downside is that he really wants to move closer to his job in Wheaton, and Im totally in love with my swim groups and coaching up here. We might compromise and move somewhere inbtwn the two, but it would still be a big drive for me to coach every night for only an hour or two at a time. So we'll have to cross that bridge when we get to it.

Although Shane brought up a good point last night when he said that we might have to find an apartment or small condo first and rent for a while. At least for 3-6 months he said, until the housing market completely bottoms out and the credit/mortgage companies can start building back up. Without the mortgage companies building up, theres no way to obtain a good loan or mortgage we would need to get a place of our own.

So, thats the up and up here, basically. We're just chillin like villians around here. Magoo is cuter than ever, especially when he slept on my bed all last week while my mom was out on vacation! I might just steal him again sometime this week :-) Oh, and chocolate cupcakes are awesome!

I created a webpage/ business!

Yes!!! Ive been wanting to get into event planning for SO long and was SO discouraged by no one hiring, I decided what the heck, just start your own! If you want help planning a party or other event, let me know! Or if you know people that want help, please refer me! Im in the Chicagoland area, and am just starting out. I have experience with (obviously) planning my wedding, planning some birthday parties, planning some big events for Habitat for Humanity in college, and also planning weekly staff play nights for my day camp!

Let me know what you think!

critters, critters everywhere.... (warning, yucky animal pictures!)

heres a little taste of what has been in either my bedroom or my house or my bathroom (while showering!) this past week

isnt that just so exciting? the bat flew into my room on Sunday night...took hibernation in my window until animal control came. Turned out to be rabid...how fun! They say thats probably why it flew in the house (even tho we dont know how!), because it was sick and didnt know where it was. Lovely.
Monday night we had the lovely mouse go across our kitchen...
and Tuesday, I hop in the shower, go to close the shower window cuz its cold...and the bee is sitting next to my hand! isnt that just so great?

at least i can hope that animal evils only come in 3's, so I should be done, right??

OMG what a crazy week.....

Sooooo the highlight of my week was Shane coming back in last weekend. He had a job interview at the museum he worked at over the summer. They are hiring an exhibit developer and hes supposed to be within the top two contenders!! He's still waiting to hear back from them for his second interview, but I'm not worried :-)
On Saturday, I had to work the bar mitzvah of one of my bosses kid. Well....being the bus driver I am, I also had to drive a bus. Which would not have been too horrible if we just had to drive from where they originally said so. But No.....they didnt realize that we actually had to go PICK UP the busses.....from the place which is over an hour round trip. Lovely. And the actual party was a mess, the party planner had no idea what to do with us...and the lovely 7th graders are brats. Literally. Ugh. Then, when it was over at midnight and we had to drop the kiddies back at the meeting spot....the other bus driver and I had to drive the busses BACK to the far away land....meaning I didnt get home until after 2 in the morning!
But it was all worth it for the $200 I have yet to receive....or the money from the picnic the weekend before. That better change soon.
On Saturday, I went downtown with my mother to see Wicked! I thought it was funny, a bit of Legally Blonde mixed in with the Wizard of Oz! Some of the singing I didnt particularly care for, but thats just me. Oh, and it was FREEZING!!!! I think the vent was right over us or something, but it was darn cold!

The best part of it all was the lovely mosquito bites i acquired from said bar mitzvah. Once I get the pictures off of my camera and onto my computer, I'll post them. Lets just say that Im semi allergic to mosquitos, so when I get bit, they swell. And boy do they swell big. And if I itch it.....oh boy, lets just say that my best friend said it looked like I was beaten...ugh. And they hurt. A lot. But Shane wouldnt let me itch them, so for about 3 days I was just in pain. Coritzone cream had nothing on these babies.....

So thats it for now....what have you all been up to?

What a weekend...

So this weekend my fiance, Shane, came to visit!! He went back to Springfield the previous Thursday to finish his last semester of grad school. I was soo happy he came to visit as that meant I would be able to get a good nights rest again! I dont know why, but ever since he left, I havent been able to sleep very well... most nights I cant fall asleep before 2 (this coming from a person who is usually tired/ in bed by 11!) But this weekend, we slept like logs and it was fabulous!

Another plus from Shane visiting-- we finished Season 2 and watched the first two discs (epi 1-8) of Season 3 of Lost! Our new thing this summer was to watch TV on DVD instead of movies. It gives us more to talk about and its fun when its more ongoing, rather than a movie that will end after 3 hours. We watched Jericho this summer too, but that only had 1.5 seasons (stupid writers strike!). We started Lost not really knowing much about it besides it was a HUGE hit....and now we see why!! We were in major Lost withdrawl when Shane left, so it was nice to watch them again! We have 5 more discs of Season 3 to watch, but we might watch some online too...esp if we get into season 4 which isnt out on DVD yet.

Hmm...what else happened this weekend? I worked on Saturday. The day camp I work at rents out the grounds to companies to have their picnics at for a weekend day, and they have to use the day camp lifeguards (me). I think my biggest pet peeve of this picnic was not only that people swam in thier clothing (oh yes, they do more often than not), but the majority of the women/ girl teens that did it wore WHITE shirts. Literally, I think almost all of the girls/ women were wearing white shirts and bras. UGH.

OH!!! My brother met a girl!! How did I forget this!? She came over to our house last night and they watched some movies. It was apparantely their second date :-) She is really cute and seems super nice, and Im so excited for my brother!! Hes had not so much success in the dating life, and the last "girl" he liked was very man-ish and treated him like crap too. (Literally, she went by the name Chris, only wore boys clothing, and even sounded like man too-- deep voice.....it was just creepy). So yay brother!! We hope to be seeing lots more of her haha!

Well, my tummy is about full from eating a ton of weenie tots and sweet and sour meatballs (yum!) So I'm off to go chill with a good book. Catch y'all later!

I WISH the summer could last forever....

My title was taken from my all time favorite song, Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams. Why is it my favorite song you may ask? Well, honestly, I have no friggin clue. One day I heard it on a CD my cousins made my uncle, and I liked it. I played it a lot. Then it became my all time favorite song. Just like that. Easy how that comes to be eh?

That kind of describes a lot about me I guess. I'm pretty easy going. I like to make decisions based on the first thing that I like. Period, I'm done, that's that.

I'm not really sure that I have a lot to say tonight....but I wanted to start a blog again. Why? Again, I have no idea. I had one towards the end of highschool, and the beginning of college, but then decided to stop it. Maybe now is a good time to start. Better late then never, I guess!

Well, I hope y'all tune in in the future! Until then....
